Very good location and really welcoming and supportive intro at the reception bij Alex. Room was pretty good. The building is very old and adds character to the overall experience. Good value for the money overall! Parking is free in the backyard.

Tried whites hotel was pleasantly surprised hotel staff fantastic could not do enough for you Alex on main reception was excellent. We used the bar called bar blanc on site again staff brilliant could not ask for better smiling happy faces nothing was to much went out they way to help no matter what you asked. Went for a meal on Wednesday night had a sports evening tables booked so they delivered it to our rooms and as guest even get 15% off well deffo be using again. Rooms are basic but adequate clean bedding tv free WiFi which worked well. Rooms could do with a little tlc. touch of paint. We did see a painter on site so maybe they are.. Over all was fine free breakfast. Cereal toast jams etc fruit juice tea coffee nice little touch enough to start your day. Very laid back never felt rushed so thanks to all the staff for very nice few of days. Will say bar gets very busy at night as we had back bed room never hear any noise guess on front you might. No lift to upstairs. Weren't car in free car park and got uber cabs in to city centre 4 In total £5.95 each very good wait no more 6 mins drop off less than 10mins

Nothing grand, but very good value for a cheap hotel, friendly, clean and well located. Some noise at night but that's to be expected. My only issue is thay the toilet (in room 202) had no room Infront of it, so could not be sat on properly. Could it not have been installed at a diagnonal to give more room, or at least on the other wall?

Ignore the bad reviews. Pay Ritz prices for a Ritz stay. Excellent price. Room was good, some shabby bits but for the price was good. Adequate breakfast, free WiFi excellent base for Newcastle. Would stay again. Ignore the haters.

Room was lovely! Very big and lovely bathroom. The cold hard vinyl flooring was the only downside. Staff were nice. Only thing we didn't know upon arrival as we weren't told prior was a £50 damage deposit. The location is lovely.

Is a great location. The staff are very friendly, the bathroom looked brand new, and the room was extremely comfortable. The food is also delicious and very reasonably priced

I would've probably given this a 4/5 review if viewing it unbiased, but seeing some of the negative reviews that feel unjustified, I wanted to boost the average a little. Honestly I wouldn't bring my family here - it's a bit grotty and old in general. But for a solo traveller, especially for the football, it was exactly what I needed - cheap, basic, easy to get to. The location is brill. West Jesmond and Jesmond metro stations are a short walk away. As a guide, on checkout, I got from the hotel door to Central Station in 20 mins. And I'm not a fast walker. Yes I timed it for the Metro but even if I hadn't, you're only adding 10 mins on. Yes there are bars all along the road but it's Jesmond, it's students, they're no bother. My room did face the courtyard so it might be a bit louder facing front, but noise wasn't a major issue. Met two members of staff, both very friendly, credit to the hotel. Didn't try the breakfast so can't comment on that, I had to leave before it was served (from 7am, I was out by 6.30). Room was worn but the important bits were clean. It was warm and I didn't have a fan, but I didn't ask for one, so that's on me. My only disappointment was not knowing about the £50 deposit (£70 at weekend) in advance, payable on arrival. It is mentioned in the booking terms but it should be clearer upfront. Yes, it's on me to read them, but most hotels don't charge this and so it needs to be a little less buried in my opinion. But it won't stop me staying here again.
